Problem Analysis
The main problem/issue is funding and continuity of operational activities, many opportunities have been passed by events that should be observed could not be continued. Hence IDF could not show the latest works because of deficiencies in that aspect. As a cultural event that is educational and informative, IDF has been unable to be of interest to private companies due to market value. On the other hand IDF is important to plant seeds of young Choreographers to national then to international forums and to enhance creativity through workshops to increase skills in choreography, inviting audiences and students to develop appreciation and through the sub events ie; showcases the young emerging choreographers for potential regeneration and increase the festivals quality incorporating the participation of international observers and critics as members of the artistic board since 2006/IDF VIII.
Enclosure
IDF, as a forum for the meeting of Indonesian and foreign choreographers, is a very important event that should be held continuously. The previous events have succeeded and encouraged the growth and regeneration of national and international choreographers.
Not only as a place to present some monumental performances or some creations of young choreographers who are still searching for their identity, IDF has also made efforts in creating collaboration between national and international choreographers, from Asia and other parts of the world. IDF has made a significant contribution to the improvement of the dance world; therefore many choreographers who want to improve their talents and advance to an international level always look forward to this festival.
Any event can only succeed if it is supported by brilliant concepts and ideas. The existence of IDF has continued up till now, due to our experience in this field. One other factor that absolutely supports the success of IDF is the availability of enough funds. The involvement of sponsors and donors will ensure the success of The 9th IDF 2009. Only with the support of parties that have a high level of commitment can IDF take place and thereby contribute towards the further development of Indonesian dance art within the international arena.
